MacPractice Announces Orders and Results Lab Interfaces

Lincoln, NE, May 7, 2009 - MacPractice, Inc., the developer of MacPractice MD, MacPractice EMR, MacPractice DDS, MacPractice DC, and MacPractice 20/20, the leading practice management and clinical applications for Mac, announced the addition of HL7 Lab Messages to MacPractice software for clinical laboratory orders, a results automated workflow.

MacPractice will work with a Lab, at the request of a client, to develop an interface between the Lab's order entry and results system and the client's MacPractice database using HL7 messaging. The order interface eliminates the manual entry of demographic information by the doctor's staff into the Lab system.

MacPractice will also collaborate with the Lab to automate the process of filing patients' results in MacPractice, which may be reviewed by the physician. MacPractice may also be used to track Lab results statuses.

MacPractice plans to integrate lab tracking and viewing results into MacPractice EMR in a future version in such a way that eliminates any manual entry into EMR.

"Clinical laboratories that provide physicians with PCs or Macs to run their orders-results software can now collaborate with MacPractice to eliminate redundant data entry, and costly printing, scanning, and filling. This is easy and effective way to save paper, minimize staff time and provide information to doctors electronically", stated Mark Hollis, MacPractice's President.

Physicians, dentists, chiropractors and eye doctors are encouraged to view QuickTime movies of MacPractice by registering at MacPractice.com. 2500 doctors' offices have chosen MacPractice to provide their practice management and clinical software.
